GERALD DIRKS SCHOLARSHIP FOR ADVANCEMENT OF BRAILLE LITERACY

The scholarship, established in 2013, recognizes Dr. Gerald Dirks’ passion and extensive use of Braille throughout his distinguished academic career. 

Dr. Dirks held the position of Professor in the Politics department at Brock University in St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada where he combined a successful teaching career with research and writing.

BARBARA MARJERAM BRAILLE LITERACY SCHOLARSHIP FOR BLIND WOMEN AND GIRLS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

The World Braille Foundation (WBF) established the Barbara Marjeram Braille Scholarship in 2008 to commemorate Barbara's 20 year career at CNIB and to recognize her contribution to Braille Literacy at the world level.

To date 24 scholarships to a total of $7000.00 US have been awarded to young women to enhance their education or provide funds for microemployment opportunities. Applications should be received by the end of April each year. Application forms and more information can be found below.
